FAQs

Isn’t this event awfully top heavy?

Nope. We are creating a community of learning leaders (which includes you), and are seeking to reduce the typical conference divide between presenters and attendees. Towards that end, the ‘faculty’ will have time take in one another’s sessions, create worship events with the community, and have opportunities to hang with attendees in the Godspaces (the times between sessions, which will be generous and non-structured).

What kind of clothes should I bring?

Dress is casual. King’s fold is in the foothills of the Rockies, and so evenings can be cool – a fall weight jacket and light gloves may be appreciated for early morning walks and in the late evenings, but in the day, shorts and sandals will be fine. Runners or walking shoes are adequate for the on-site trails and paths.

What else should I bring?

Musical instruments, journal, bible, camera, art supplies will all enhance your time. Laptops are allowed, but there is no high speed internet, and dial-up will be reserved for the office staff except for emergencies. Cell phones rarely have reception.  Think retreat, and you won’t miss the net nor texts nor Twitter.

What is the nearest airport?

Calgary International (YYC) is about 50 minutes from the retreat centre.  Alert us, and we can discuss the possibility of a ride at a modest cost.

How about driving instructions?

Sure. Click here.

What if I have food allergies?

Call or write King’s Fold and discuss your needs in advance.  Many food allergies are routinely allowed for by the kitchen staff.  If you then register, a reminder on your registration or by email after registration will be needed.  403-932-3174 retreat@kingsfoldretreat.com

Can I cancel my registration?

Yes, but with limits, as a week-long event is hard to market on short notice, and we are running this one with tight financial margins. See the registration page, Deposits, Refunds and Transfers for details.
